Dell R&D – Database Solutions _ Senior Analyst GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for developing and testing database solution on Dell enterprise server platforms using applicable technologies and software engineering methodologies. Responsible to study the performances of the solution based on Oracle and SQL Server and publish white papers. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Setup the test bed as per the required hardware configuration. • Responsible for solution testing as per team’s designed test plans, fault injection, troubleshooting and debugging system/component issues (HW/SW) and report high quality defects. • Study the performance of various components of database solution through execution of stress testing tools/methodologies; analyze results, identify underperforming subsystems and work with vendors to improve the performance. • Contribute to product documentation development, test plans development, documenting best practices and writing white papers as well as communicating them to our customers. • Propose and perform test automation through scripts Job Description: Integrate and validate Oracle RDBMS Cluster Solutions with Dell Hardware and Storage on Linux and Windows OS. Perform root cause analysis of technical issues. Conduct performance studies to create sizing data on supported configurations. Publish technical white papers to share best practices/participate in external events and conferences. Profile of Candidate: • Should have in-depth experience in enterprise server hardware and storage, Exposure to Dell hardware is preferred. • Should have hands-on experience on Oracle 9i/10g Real Application Clusters (RAC). Good grasp on Oracle RDBMS Internals. • Must have hands-on experience on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL3/RHEL4) Exposure to Oracle RAC on Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 would be a plus. Should have a strong understanding of OS concepts. Should be able to analyze OS related problems. • Must have familiarity with Fiber Channel Storage and Storage Area Network (SAN). Familiarity with Storage Management Tools would be a plus. • Must have contributed to the architecture of at least one product/project/solution. • Should have experience with software development cycle especially integration and system testing. Should have hands-on experience on creating/using test plans, test cases and defect tracking systems. Experience in writing technical white papers would be a plus. • Should have 6-8 years of relevant experience. Should have worked as a technical lead for 2-3 years leading a team of 3-5 engineers. • Should have excellent written and spoken communication. Experience involving day-to-day interaction with distributed teams based at US would be an added advantage. • Should be able to motivate the team to execute projects to completion and with high quality adhering to engineering processes. Should be able to make recommendations to improve the Oracle RAC solutions.
