Former French fighter pilot, Organizer of Paris-Beijing race, UL Tour de France, and a cross-channel microlight races: Bernard Lamy who has vast experience in running long range air races (including a Paris-Beijing, and a cross-channel microlight race), and will no doubt be able to advise on the viability of your project. With best regards,Max Bishop Secretary General "Now in October, forget it, the weather over the area of China is very bad, something you will never forget if you fly in. Too dangerous." " ... yes, you must make a trip in each of these countries to meet the Director General yourself or one of his assistants he will name responsible for your file. You must understand that to bring 150 microlights from Paris to Beijing is not a joke ... "I will attend at the FAI General Aviation Committee at Toronto. Bernard, Thank you for taking the time to discuss, and shate first-hand, the organisation of global aviation events! |

| Roger, I would like to keep British Microlight Pilots informed about progress with the rally through our members magazine, Chris Finnigan Chief Executive British Microlight Aircraft Association. / thank you for permission to publish from your website. I have written a small piece for our Nov/Dec magazine issue informing our members about the Rally, giving them your website details, and offering further information via our office for those who are not on the Internet. Let's see how the interest develops and then make contact again in about a month's time. For your interest only, I was based in Germany (near Moenchengladbach) with the British Army until December last year and flew my flexwing microlight to a number of German clubs including Weilerswist near Koln. Everyone was very friendly and I was never charged a landing fee! |

| Nick's Micro Pages has put up a prominent link to your website. PR would probably be where I could be the most use, as I have contact details for all the clubs and schools in the UK - although I am quite happy to help in any way which you think would be useful - |

| We are using a Pegasus (www.pegasusaviation.co.uk) Quantum 912, flexwing microlight, capable of carrying 2 crew for over 400 miles. Weighing just 200 kilos it cruises at 60 mph and is capable of altitudes in excess of 16,000ft, a necessity in the Himalayas. It is equipped with a Rotax 1200cc engine producing 80hp. An electronic engine monitoring system keeps a careful eye on the systems. Apart from the normal flying instruments it will be equipped with a global positioning system (GPS) to help with navigation over, at times, uncharted territories. Many aviation maps have been kindly provided by Pooleys. All members of the team will spend many hours over the 6 months flying high above the Land Rovers provided the weather holds, which will be checked through The Weather Page. I would suggest you have flight clearances done by a professional company such as Overflight. From Site: into China and Tibet. With the road at over 16,000ft, the microlight will now be flying in excess of 18,000ft, with wind-chill temperatures approaching -60. |
