MIS Manager April 1999-Present

·         Integrated new company acquisitions into JDE and widened the network with Cisco PIX firewalls.  This brought users online in Baltimore, Seattle, and Belfast.

·         Expanded the JDE implementation to include a new company in Sweden.  This encompassed all business areas including sales, manufacturing, A/P, A/R, purchasing and accounting.  It included multiple languages and multi-currency.

·         Implemented a virtual private network

·         Manages the company’s computer systems department. Responsible for supervising departmental employees, managing the IM budget, maintaining and upgrading all systems hardware, including AS/400, network servers, all LAN equipment, and desktop PCs. In addition to managerial duties I am also heavily involved as a business systems analyst and programmer.

·         Performed a complete implementation of J.D.Edwards to replace the company's non Y2K compliant legacy system. This included distribution, manufacturing, warehousing, financials, A/R, and A/P.

·         Created interface feeds to convert data from MAPICS to JDE.

·         Implemented JDE Configurator to allow sales ordering of customized versions of complex manufactured products. The configurator module will quickly determine which parts will work together and how much a finished product will cost.

·         Created a company web site hosted on an AS/400.

·         Connected the LAN to the Internet via a T1 connection.  Implemented VPN over the Internet to connect offices in Sweden and Germany.

·         Provided program customizations and language translations for Germany and went to Frankfurt to provide on-site training to users.

·         Implemented JDE interface feeds from a custom invoicing system to create batch journal entries in JDE and automatically post to the general ledger. This included modifications to the accounts receivable cash applications program to automatically attach relevant accruals such as bonuses and discounts when a customer pays on a specific invoice number.

·         Written many custom reports or modified standard reports needed for financial analysis.

·         Upgraded JDE from a CISC to RISC processor along with a JDE release level upgrade.

·         Written specifications for modifications of the J.D.Edwards sales order entry and manual lot assignment programs for the initial phase of converting their legacy sales order entry system to J.D.Edwards.

·         Implemented EDI with J.D.Edwards significantly reducing order entry cycle time. Wrote JDE application interfaces for EDI files using Gentran/400 and Gentran:Director (Sterling’s PC EDI translator). Mapped data from EDI standards to JDE files and brought up trading partners using 850 (purchase order) and 810 (invoice) EDI documents.

·         Migrated legacy systems to J. D. Edwards as a solution to bring two companies under one system. This included conversions of customer and product master data to JDE and a conversion from release 6.2 to 7.3 of J.D.Edwards. 

·         Automated warehouse: Bar code scanning of packages for automatic ship confirmation and addition of freight charges. Created interface feeds between J.D.Edwards and Federal Express Powership Passport and UPS On-Line Professional for ship confirm, billing, and proof of delivery.

·         Implemented and supported EMS2000 as a solution to provide export documents for international sales. Supported and maintained the EMS2000 system’s client and server software and communications between J.D.Edwards.

·         AS/400 CISC to RISC conversion. Brought up a new RISC AS/400 to run in parallel with a production CISC machine. Migrated DASD and upgraded 7 software packages including J.D.Edwards to the new RISC processor.

·         Implemented TCP/IP on the AS/400 - Responsible for setting up routers and overseas leased lines to Johnson & Johnson’s Singapore operations to communicate with Rochester, NY based systems.

·         Outfitted a new warehouse facility in Memphis. Designed, purchased, and installed all the necessary equipment to integrate the new facility into the J.D.Edwards system in Rochester, NY and automate shipping operations. Procured a 128KB frame relay leased line from Rochester, NY to Memphis, TN. Purchased and installed CISCO 2503 routers, Synoptic hubs, concentrators, and IBM 5394 AS/400 remote controllers in the new building. Wrote JDE interfaces to several transportation carriers’ systems to automate shipping. This reduced labor costs and manual activities by 33 percent.
