It also addresses social concerns like health, HIV, disaster migration AIDS, poverty, hunger, livelihoods etc. More details can be obtained from its websites www.aea-india.org and www.aide-et-action.org Job Responsibilities • Monitoring and extending programme support to NGO partners for implementing social development projects on the behalf of Aide et Action in Ranchi region • Establishment and monitoring of “Livelihood Education” centers in the Ranchi Region (Orissa, West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand) under the iLEAD (Institute for Livelihood Education and Development) programme which targets economically and educationally marginalised youth, particularly from slums and rural areas through community mobilization and train them for entry level jobs in demand oriented trades in the local market • Liasoning with market establishments, business units and private companies for providing assistance to training and placements to the trained candidates passing out of iLEAD • Leading the field team of 20 staffs which includes Program Executives and Instructors for carrying out livelihood education programs • Collaboration with corporate and government agencies for resource mobilisation and support for carrying out livelihood programmes in the region • Monitoring and extending programme support to projects implemented by Aide et Action • Supporting the Regional Coordinator on issues of intervention in the region • Contribution towards development and preparation of institutional funding proposals for donors and various government departments etc. INTERNSHIPS October-December-05 Winrock International, India Koraput, Orissa Policy plots: Impact on forest and forest dependent poor in Orissa This project (R8368) was supported by the Department For International Development (DFID), UK, under the DFID Policy Oriented Research (POR) Programme, with the purpose of improving the understanding of the interaction between forests and forest dependent people; and to better target public investment and analyse state regulations that affect the forest and forest-fringe dwellers in Orissa. This purpose was achieved by developing and testing simple tools and techniques for (a) multi-scale forest-poverty mapping that helps locate the forest poor, (b) assessing cumulative regulatory impact of participatory forestry on the forest and forest-fringe dwellers via a policy plot, and (c) characterizing participatory forest research-policy-implementation linkages. The study was conducted in Bandhugaon block of Koraput district. The study was conducted in five phases beginning with the understanding of forest regulations at the state, district, block, panchayat and Village level. This was in response to the overwhelming response to a pilot study on Social Marketing initiative of RCH products in Madhya Pradesh. A similar study was also carried out by me in state of Jharkhand, so as to propose for implementing a “Community based contraceptive social marketing programme”. This pilot study was carried out in 4 districts of Jharkhand i.e. Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Gumla and Lohardaga. The proposal was subsequently submitted and approved by MOHFW, Govt. of India and is now operational in three states of Jharkhand, Bihar and Orissa. The study also focused on the organisational structure of the state forest department and the impact of 1988 policy on the forest of Kerala. It also provided a detailed report on the sustainability aspect of the Eco-Development Committees (EDC) dealing with Cloves, Cinnamon, Cardamom and Coffee in Periyar Tiger Reserve and how to manage the supply chain to effectively channelise the products.
