Death Care Industry (at INFOSYS Technologies Hyderabad) Description SCI one of the largest death care industry had engaged Infosys during January 2002 to identify the most optimal IT configuration to reduce total cost of ownership. One of the recommendations suggested was that SCI replace its existing Horizon, Falcon, Trust and Sales with an existing product from HMIS. HMIS is a software product company that has been devoted to the development of software for the death-care industry since 1988. Their clientele includes a large number of small clients with a few locations and a few large clients (with a few hundred to a thousand locations). The core functionality that has been developed in Power Builder (PB) is a user friendly application providing an extensive menu driven access facility. The HMIS application in its current form of a PB client is not an optimal solution and the recommendation was to create a web version using Microsoft technologies for deployment. SCI has asked Infosys to develop a web version of this application. Project is about re-engineering the existing HMIS Power Builder application to web using Dot-Net platform. Microsoft has listed this project in web site and has taken the project’s POC for case study.
