Employment History and Experience: Detail Apr. '96 - Present : Saudia Airlines / Senior Network Analyst Working on maintaining, upgrading, and modernizing a large mainframe-based network using ( SDLC - 11,000 nodes), ALC (Airline Control Protocol - 14,000 nodes), using ALCI under NCP V7R8M0. In addition to Local and International X.25 ( using NPSI 3.9 - 3,700 nodes), and TCP/IP (700 nodes), multi-flavored network. Work covered VTAM, NCP, OS/2, CM/2, and windows NT gateways and services, Monitoring and reporting using: Netview, NPM, OmegaMon, SAS, SMF, TPX, LU6.2, APPC, APPN, Ethernet, Token-Ring LAN's, Main 3745's HW/FW, 3746-900, 2216 MultiProtocol Routers, Cisco routers, Fore Systems routers and switches, ESCON channel technology, 3174's HW/FW, X.25 LLC0, X.25 QLLC, Network planning, and product implementations. Also, working on Windows NT large corporate accounts for LAN / WAN migration, gateway technology to specialized mainframe applications using APPC, TCP/IP, and SDLC gateway technology and session management, Directory resolution issues, addressing issues, Routing and switching technology implementations, network design and topological choice issues, design optimization, and application enablement technology including messaging solutions. Projects completed : 1. Several large IBM product upgrades’ generations of CBIPO, CBPDO ( Custom IBM Product upgrades and Offerings : VTAM, NCP,NETVIEW,NPM,JES328…etc.). Product Set-up and environment build within test environment, followed by planned migration into the production environment. (MVS/ESA V4R1, V4R3, OS390/V2R5,OS390/VRR9,OS390/V2R10). 2. Several Hyper/Fix applications for different IBM products (VTAM, NCP,NETVIEW,NPM,…etc.) 3. Third-Party product installations, upgrades, and fix / userexit application ( E.G. : CA / TPX3.0 to 5.0 ) 4. ( Five Mainframes CPU + Two FEP 3745 Network migration from Purely SubArea Routing to APPN using MPC channels, then to APPN using XCF sysplex channels with Generic applications ) 5. VTAM structures enablement and sizing under SYSPLEX / APPN USING XCF channels and HDPT protocol ( 5 MVS IMAGES ). 6. Several remote access project SW/HW coordination and customization : E.G. : 6.1 Airport Token-Ring remote access LAN’s into mainframe environment via OS/2, CM/2 access through Synoptics 3174 emulation cards complete with all mainframe VTAM/NCP definitions and testing. 6.2 Financial systems QSP remote access into mainframe environment using mainframe TCP/IP stack and definitions via 2216 IBM router, with all planning, setup and testing required. 6.3 X.25 access for Local and Remote nodes migration for non-airlines reservation agencies Local and International via NCP/NPSI using both Motorola Codex PAD’s and SITA international access ( 3,700 nodes ) 7. Complete Project Planning using SW with : Resource allocations, Timelines, Main and Subtask allocation, Milestones, Conflict resolution, Testing, Cutover to Production, and Post-Implementation detailed stages. 8. Management reporting and presentations using MS Power-Point 9. Several smaller projects concerning international file-transfer, weather info. transfer, protocol encapsulation. Remote printing….etc. Mar '95 - Apr '96 : Provincial Gov., Ontario, Canada / Contract / Platform Messaging Specialist Did the architecture studies, authored and issued RFP's and Tenders for renewal of Messaging Services and Internet Access main servers for a large corporate account . Improving on existing systems. Internet-access systems, with WAN buffering DMZ firewall and routing technology. Fields covered : Messaging and network technology on SNA, Decnet, Internet and X.400, using many types of WAN/LAN topologies, applications, transfer and management services ...etc. Large corporate user-base of 42,000 users and growing to approx 71,000 users. In addition to the requirements to accommodate business partners like banks, health-care clinics, industry affiliates ...etc. through gateways and firewalls supporting all kinds of secure message and file transfers. Work on and study technology state-of-the-art and vendor community to prepare the short lists for vendor and supplier selection for those large projects. This in addition to devising the spreadsheets with weighting systems to help in the decision-making process for the system platforms and vendor selection. Support of DEC VAX/VMS, DEC OSF/1, Ultrix platforms, VTAM/NCP, Novell 3.12, DEC Pathworks, .....etc. Support and implementation of messaging platforms : MHS, MIME, SMTP, MAPI, VIM, POP, X.400/X.500, DDS, MAILBUS, NBS, ...etc. Project planning, budgeting, and execution of new product implementations, Product Upgrades, RFP production, Group leadership and Project hand-over activities. RFP for incorporation of Internet Access Platform for a large corporate multi-platform base This in addition to two minor projects for renewal of certain gateway services for the wide area network ( SMTP and IBM SNADS/DEC-MRS ) Feb '93 - Mar, '95 : Private Computer Systems and Network Contractor Successfully completed projects: Projects cover giving customers solutions to Wide Area Networks and LAN connectivity. Diagnosing and resolving performance problems. Also I was involved the implementation and customization of project-related applications. Designing and implementing Message Transfer technology solutions. In addition to researching, planning and setting up a large BBS system for remote access to many functions including TCP/IP and UUCP gateway to the Internet with full capabilities, global e-mail, remote faxing, and voice-mail support. Complete Virtual-Office project for a countrywide sales force to access a centralized database, worldwide e-mail, graphics applications, batch and interactive jobs, audio and other business services. Testing on interactive Video. Manual Voice-mail superimposed on E-mail worldwide using UUCP, UUencoding and MHS / SMF-70 with MG/I software. Large corporate Remote ROM-code automated transfer and verification project for a worldwide corporation. This included background automated faxing, e-mail inter-platform messaging, file transfer, and audit-trails. Helped finalize the network management on the WAN/LAN levels for a large corporate account. This covered multi-discipline platforms: UNIX, Netware, MVS, and OS/2 using SNMP and Netview alerts and stats to populate a MIB database and do real-time learning of the TCP/IP and SDLC network. Also network routing, table updates and discovery functions were covered. This in addition to remote agent customization and remote LAN server agent loads and activation. WAN node health monitoring and agent remote update and customization were performed. This was a large-Scale network covering a Wide Area Network across Canada with 4228 workstations, 151 Novel 3.11 file servers, SunNet Manager, Cisco works, Optivity and Novell NMM/NMS network management on the Router, Concentrator Hubs, and File Server levels. The topology was 10Base-T, channel extenders, coax and Token Ring. Protocols were TCP/IP and IPX/SP with super-imposed SDLC SNA traffic from the IBM-9000 mainframe, IBM 3745 FEP, and IBM 3174 Cluster controllers. Feb '92 - Feb '93 : Sterling Software International, contract , Toronto, Canada - Senior Systems Analyst Computer SW Telecommunications projects and support. This was mostly support and customization work for mainframe, Mini, PC communications, File Transfer, EDI, and Applications Testing products from Sterling Software for the corporate world. Customers ere mostly large corporations in North America like: Moore Business Forms, Kmart, TD bank, Bank of Nova Scotia, Stelco, Amoco, Royal bank, ….and many others. Sep.90 - Feb.92 : Private Computer Systems and Network Contractor Rogers Data Services, Toronto - Canada Senior Network Analyst - Contract Successfully completed projects: Computer SW Telecommunications projects and support. Assist with the planning of the Data Center move. This included resource allocation using TimeLine as a Project management tool. Investigation and Implementation of a Matrix Switch for the 3745 FEP. Assist with the Implementation of IBM Infoman on the mainframe as an on-line problem tracking escalation and resolution system. Implementation of LAN products and technology. LAN technical support. System NPM / SLR line utilization statistics using SAS reports. Novell SAA WAN/LAN to IBM Mainframe Token-Ring gateways implementation and optimization. SNA/SAA mainframe gateways using 3174 cluster controller and channel extender technology. Main network planning and implementation functions. WAN/LAN, Routing, Management and optimization.
