Two different front-end client applications are available - SVS tellers for viewing the images and Image Bank clients primarily for capturing the images. It is an Image based Verification System used for capturing signatures as well as images of documents and storing them, to be made available later at any point of time for verification. SVS has been designed specifically for banking sector where large volume of signatures and document images need to be stored and retrieved frequently based on any specified key, say, an account number or name. The main focus of the architectural design of SVS has been its image storage capability and retrieval speed. Images that can be helpful for verification such as Signatures, Approval letters, Board Resolutions for corporate clients or even photographs of account holders etc., can be stored in Image Server (Image Bank) through the Image Bank clients. All the images are stored primarily under a key that is usually the account number. This key should be unique, if not globally but at least in the Image Bank server that holds the key. Once the key is decided upon, the user can have as many as 1 to 255 different categories under which the images can be stored. For example, all the signature images of accounts holders of that account can be stored under one category called ‘Signature Images’, Photographs of Account holders for that account can be stored under ‘Photographs’ category, Images of Board resolutions for corporate clients can be stored under the ‘Board resolutions’ category, even images of account opening forms, and so on. Most of the users use a component of SVS-IMAGE BANK called the SVS Teller module. This module is installed on the Win NT Workstation/Windows 2000 clients. This module is activated on the press of a hot key that is user definable. SVS Teller is used only for retrieving the already stored images for viewing or verification.
